Janggu and Ink
Tondo, a group exhibition at Harman Projects NYC January 17 - February 7, 2026 "Janggu and ink" Acrylic on cradled birch wood panel 24 x 24” round In Korea, until 2025, tattoos were illegal and considered a medical procedure so technically, only licensed doctors could perform tattoos. So being tatted up in Korea was even more rebellious than in other countries. This culture of self expression is rising in a country where traditional meets modern. Janggu drums and jeonmo paper hats meet tattoos and combat boots. The sides of the round panel are painted in a Dancheong style.
