Celadon Broken and Repaired - Wow X Wow
2 paintings for the Wow X Wow Microvisions3 show. If you’re an Asian kid growing up in an all white world in rural western New York State you have a number of physically and verbally aggressive encounters. You have a bowl cut, your face is different, you aren’t like the others. The gold lining of this ignorance and racism is that eventually when you pick up the pieces and are repaired, either by yourself or with the help of others, it makes you stronger. Korean celadon was celebrated as the finest in the world and had a characteristic greenish grey jade hue. Repairing ceramics with gold was an art mastered by the Japanese. Realizing that otherness is both bullshit and beautiful comes from you and hopefully with the help of others.
